Jarvis is a simple and easy-to-use voice recognition software whose main purpose is to open applications and execute specific commands by listening to your voice.

Simply connect a microphone to your computer, launch the program and access system commands and applications through the use of open speech.

By using Jarvis you can open Notepad, WordPad, Calculator or any other system utilities that you need at the current moment. The program recognizes all the default apps that Windows comes with.

What’s more, you are able to access your Facebook, Twitter, GMail, Yahoo or Hotmail account with ease. The utility listens to your voice and after it recognizes the command, it opens the proper link in your default browser, be it Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.

This way, if you want to check your e-mails while talking to a friend on Facebook, point the microphone at a proper distance from your mouth, then call the ‘open Yahoo’ or ‘open GMail’ command. Jarvis automatically launches a new window with the right link within seconds.

Program

You can also use Jarvis if you want to view daily weather forecast, analyze the stock price of Facebook or Microsoft, as well as increase or decrease the volume when listening to music.

While testing the application, we noticed that Jarvis does not contain any delays so you can rest assured that it listens to each command you tell and automatically displays the requested information. This way, each time you want the utility to execute a specific command, you need to speak loud and clear into the microphone.

To wrap it up, Jarvis is an effective solution that comes in handy for users who need to launch websites and execute commands using only their voice.

Iron Man-inspired personal assistant that can tell the weather, kill processes, mute the volume and more, by writing orders in the console

J.A.R.V.I.S. is personal assistant software that can execute intuitive commands and provide feedback in the console window. Due to its name and purpose, we can only assume it was inspired by the natural language UI of 'Iron Man'.

If you would like to fool around with a personal assistant in digital form, this tool is designed to listen to your needs and execute each command without hesitation. For example, it can tell you the weather by just typing the “weather” command as well as latest news by typing 'news'.

Fool around with a personal assistant tool

The interface is quite simple since you can type the commands and read the assistant’s feedback in the main window. Voice is disabled by default but if you enable it with the 'voice' command, J.A.R.V.I.S. will remember this setting the next time it's launched.

You can use this program to dim your screen, set an alarm, adjust the volume, view and terminate running processes, increase, decrease, mute and unmute volume, find out the current time and date, or shut down the computer, among other commands.

Program

Although it looks like a fun application, these are several things that can make you reconsider the first impression. For instance, the voice files included in the package are not licensed so you can only use the default Windows voice.

All commands can be displayed on the console with “help”. However, you might stumble across some that are not available for your system such as “msnbrowse” which is supposed to launch the Windows Live Messenger.

Although the list does not give details about the purpose of each command, it's more fun to discover them. Too bad that the software project hasn't received updates for a long time since it still remains in the attention of many computer users today.
